DEVON DAWSON
Devon Dawson, known as “Miss Devon” (SASS #49096)
of Fort Worth, Texas, has garnered top nominations nationally
as “Female Performer of the Year” and “ Songwriter
of the year” by The Western Music Association and The
Academy of Western Artists. A founding member of the award winning
cowboy swing group, “The Texas Trailhands”, Miss
Devon’s vocals and lively guitar strumming brings to mind
‘swing time cowgirls’ like Patsy Montana, Rosalie
Allen, and Dale Evans. She is also known as the singin’,
yodelin’, voice of “Jessie the Yodelin’ Cowgirl”,
of Toy Story 2 fame, as heard on the Grammy–winning CD,
Woody’s Roundup featuring Riders in the Sky, released
by Walt Disney Records. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Devon
makes personal appearances as “Jessie” from Radio
Disney, Imagination Celebration, National Cowgirl Hall of Fame,
and occasionally joins Riders In the Sky onstage, as she did
in March 2001, when she appeared on the Grand Old Opry in Nashville,
Tennessee. |

Joe
Bowman
What do Hollywood legends and Kings and Queens from around the
world have in common with real-life heroes like astronauts,
cosmonauts, Texas Rangers, S.W.A.T. Teams and the U.S. Marines?
. . They have all crossed paths with JOE BOWMAN . .
JOE BOWMAN is a slice of the ‘OLD WEST’ come to
life . . . a fast drawing, Straight Shootin’ larger-than-life
TEXAN, who is one of the best men anywhere with a gun.
“When the “Legend” is bigger than the man,
print the “Legend;” when the “Legend and the
Man” parallel, it’s all the same.
Twice nominated for “The American Outstanding Handgunner
Award”–Combat Infantry Badge–Four Battle Stars–Bronze
Stars–Purple Heart–carries a special Texas Ranger
Badge presented by a Governor of Texas and appointed “Ambassador
of Goodwill” for the State of Texas by four different
Governors.
. . . . The List Goes On . . . .
Joe has been on longhorn cattle drives and served as gun coach
for movie and TV westerns. Roy Rogers commissioned him to make
two different pairs of his famous “BOOTS of ROSES”
with sterling silver and gold trim; he’s made gun leather
for Johnny Mack Brown, Jock Mahoney (a famous actor and stuntman)
and Sammy Davis, Jr. Sammy bought two pair of Joe’s famous
customized RUGER single action pistols. Robert Duval engaged
Joe’s shooting and western knowledge for his renown role
as “Gus” in LONESOME DOVE.
. . . . The List Goes On . . . .
Mr. Bill Ruger, Sr. had his son, Tom, contact Joe to request
that he do the Highly Acclaimed National Safety T.V. an-nouncement
for the RUGER SINGLE ACTION SIX SHOO-TER. Joe has found the
RUGER pistols to be the stron-gest, sa-fest and the most reli-able
pistol in the mar-ket place.

RIVER CROSSING, INC.
Miss Tabitha and Mad Mountain Mike have 43 years of combined
experience in historical research and re-enactment. Mad Mountain
Mike’s work has been featured in museums, movies and
galleries across the country and in Europe, while Miss Tabitha
has focused on historic dance and fashion. Their partnership
enables them to cover many eras and topics, ranging from the
Revolutionary War to modern day, with a special focus on the
American Old West. Mad Mountain Mike and Miss Tabitha enjoy
presenting history in an entertaining as well as educational
style.
Thursday and Friday morning, enjoy a unique presentation
as Miss Tabitha demonstrates for you how a Victorian lady
would have dressed from the “inside out”. Beginning
with chemise and bloomers, she adds corset, petticoat, bustle,
and on and on until at last she is attired in her final outfit
-- “properly and decently” dressed to appear in
public, not forgetting her headpiece and correct accessories.
As each piece is added, she shares entertaining and historical
anecdotes about the clothing of the Victorian era. This is
a delightfully educational program you won’t want to
miss!
In preparation for Saturday night’s Cattle Baron's
Ball, on Thursday and Friday afternoon Miss Tabitha will present
a lesson on dances of the Victorian era, such as the Grand
March, Virginia Reel, and Quadrilles. Topics such as fan flirtations,
bows and curtsies, escorting your lady and managing the train
of a gown will also be covered. Miss Tabitha has been researching
and teaching old-time dance for over 15 years, and she specializes
in adapting historic dances for modern-day folks. All dances
will be taught, and no previous experience is necessary. Not
a stuffy class, you will be pleasantly surprised at the simplicity
of many of these elegant dances. Ladies attending are encouraged
to bring their trained or bustled petticoat or skirt in which
to practice.
On Saturday only, Miss Tabitha and Mad Mountain Mike are
pleased to once again present their Old West & Victorian
Fashion Show tailored especially for SASS shooters! Practical,
beautiful, historical, fanciful – you’ll find
it all featured here in a wide range of Wild West, Native
American, Victorian and B-Western styles. Miss Tabitha and
Mad Mountain Mike provide a historical and humorous commentary
with each outfit, giving “inside information”
of value to costume buffs and SASS members alike. Don’t
miss it!
