  • All Action Shooting categories with 5 or more contestants
     1st through 10th
  • All Mounted Shooting categories - 1st through 3rd
  • 12 Stage Winners
  • Side Match Winners
  • Best Gun Cart
  • Top Poker Players
  • Best Dressed Costumes

All merchandise is awarded based on random drawings of the competitors. Literally, the last place shooter has a chance to go home with the best prize of the match. The vast majority of our competitors endorse this administration of prizes and they, as we, believe it contributes to the spirit of friendly competition that prevails at END of TRAIL.

COSTUME CONTESTS
We've come a long way since the first couple of years of END of TRAIL. It was easy picking the costume contest winners then. They were the only people not wearing blue jeans!

Costuming is a major factor in maintaining END of TRAIL's uniqueness as a shooting competition. Without all of the great looking folks in great looking period costumes, we'd be just another shooting match using funny guns and silly targets.

Our costuming creates both the environment and shared attitude that set the tone for camaraderie unequaled in other shooting events. In appreciation of your efforts in this regard, our costume winners have consistently shared honors with our shooters.

A few changes and updates have been made to the costume contests, so here’s information you need in order to participate. There is no advanced entry form for the costume contests.

Monday, June 18
4:00 AM - 5:00 PM - Wild Bunch Costume Contest Judgin On The Range

Monday is the day to suit up as your favorite character from the Wild Bunch film or in a military uniform of that era to be judged by a panel of roving judges while you are participating in the Wild Bunch Match.  Categories are Male and Female and awards will be given from 1st – 3rd place at the Wild Bunch Awards Ceremony to be held in the Belle Union Saloon, Tuesday, June 21 from 4 PM – 5 PM.

Thursday, June 21
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Shooting Costumes Contest at the Gem Saloon

Daytime Costumes Contest:
The majority of the END of TRAIL costume contests will take place during the day on Thursday and Friday, June 23rd and 24th, 2010.  Daytime shooting costume categories are Male, Female, and Juniors.  Daytime Costumes will be judged by a panel of judges.  Regardless of which shooting relay you are on, you should have ample time to participate.  You do not have to pre-register.  Just show up at the designated times and sign in at the Gem Saloon.  Awards, from 1st to 3rd place, will be given Saturday, June 25th at 8:30 PM in the Belle Union Saloon.

Best Dressed Conventioneers:
Conventioneers receive their own awards and are judged at the same times as the Daytime Costume Contests.  No pre-registration is required.  Just show up and sign in at the Gem Saloon.  Awards will be given to best-dressed male, female, and junior Conventioneer, first place only, at 8:30 PM, Saturday, June 25th in the Belle Union Saloon.

• Waddie Costume Award:
How could we ever run a successful END of TRAIL without the hard work of these volunteers?  Therefore, they should have a Waddie Costume Award!  We will give a Waddie Shooting Costume Award to a male and female waddie, first place only, on Saturday, June 25th at 8:30 PM in the Belle Union Saloon.  However, as a waddie, you need to take a break from your duties and come to the Gem Saloon to be judged during the day from 11 AM - 1 PM, Thursday, June 23th, or Friday, June 24th 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM.

• Best Guncart:
Bring your guncart to the Gem Saloon for judging Thursday June 23th between 11 AM and 1 PM or Friday, June 24th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  Awards will be given from 1st to 3rd place on Saturday, June 25th, at 8:30 PM in the Belle Union Saloon.

• Best Dressed Sutler/Best Sutler Display:
Sutlers need to spend their time selling their goods.  They are not expected to leave their booths to participate in a costume contest.  Yet, we want to recognize the Best Dressed Male and Female Sutler.  So, our judges will be roaming Sutlers’ Row taking photos during the event.  These awards will be presented at 8:30 PM on Saturday, June 25th in the Belle Union Saloon

8:15 PM - 9:15 PM Soiled Doves/Parlour House Madams at the BELLE UNION SALOON

No pre-registration is required, but you must be a SASS member, and you must be at the Belle Union by 7:30 PM to sign up and participate.  Costumes must be era-appropriate.  Soiled Dove costumes should reflect the spirit of the “Cheyenne Social Club” and may portray a bordello working girl or a society prostitute.  Parlour House Madam costumes should reflect the “older, but wiser businesswoman” of the era — the proprietress or manager of the “salon.”  Awards will be given from 1st to 3rd place in each category that evening immediately after the judging by a panel of judges.

Friday, June 22

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Daytime Costumes Contest at the Gem Saloon
