Clinics, RO Training, a 2 stage warm-up match, a six-stage main match, All Around Cowboy, team events, and a Top Gun Shoot-off are offered for all! For those interested only in the main-match activities, these can now all be completed on Friday and Saturday.

APPROPRIATE HORSE TACK IS REQUIRED!

MOUNTED SHOOTING COSTUME CONTEST

The Mounted Costume Contest will be held in the Mounted Arena from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Saturday June 23rd.

You must be a Mounted Shooting competitor to enter this contest, and you must be mounted or in a cart pulled by an equine partner. Dress in appropriate attire, this is a family event!

Judging will be divided 25% each in the following areas:
1. Originality.
2. Detail to include horse and tack.
3. Presentation.
4. Authenticity.

Once again for 2012, SASS Mounted Shooting Headquarters will be set up in a large tent located next to the arena. Registration and check-in will take place at the Mounted Shooters HQ.

SASS Mounted Shooters will participate in the general END of TRAIL prize pool located in the Copper Queen. Drawing for prizes is restricted to Wednesday and Thursday this year. Don’t be left out! The prize pool will contain a variety of top-notch prizes, including fine firearms and industry merchandise. There is a great prize for everyone!

SASS Mounted Shooters are riding for fun and glory! A 2 stage warm-up is planned for Thursday and competitive events are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Mounted Range Officer I & II Courses will be available Wednesday for any member who wants to learn more about the great sport of SASS Mounted Shooting or become a qualified Mounted Range Officer.

Special rider’s and safety meetings will be held before any activities are undertaken.

Attendance at these meetings is mandatory. Arena rules, match procedures and policies, safety practices, and other important activities will be covered. All riders are cautioned to be aware of the crowded conditions at END of TRAIL and not allow themselves or their horses be placed in any compromising situations.

NEW FOR 2012! Horses ARE allowed in the Town Square and Sutlers areas! Well behaved horses are welcomed in all safe areas of the encampment.

MOUNTED SHOOTERS CAMP

We plan to make the best and most effective use of real estate for mounted camp this year. SASS will be sectioning off ample spaces for registered shooters. There is an additional charge of $50 for camping on site.

There are 16 Founders Ranch pipe corrals "stalls"; which can be reserved, available for rent. Unreserved corrals will be available on a first come, first served basis, otherwise you will need to bring your own portable corrals. Water will be available for horses in camp on a daily basis.

It is imperative camp is safe. You are responsible to keep camp clean, rake your corrals, supervise your children, and keep dogs on a leash at all times!

Be sure to lock your motor home and vehicles and protect your valuables. This is your home away from home.

MOUNTED MATCH PROCEDURES

The Mounted Match riding activities will take place in the Wah Maker arena.

IT IS IMPERATIVE you find your scheduled shooting times on the shooting schedule and be at the designated individual and team events by your scheduled times. We recommend keeping your shooting schedules written down. It is very important to read your Shooter’s Program.

We are scheduling approximately 1.5 minutes between go signals for each shooter. It is very important everyone make every possible effort to help keep us on schedule.

If you miss your shooting time, you must notify the Range Officer who will determine if there will be any penalty. Be sure to discuss any special circumstances with the Range Officer.

REMEMBER, BE SAFE, HAVE FUN, AND BE SAFE!
