Juni Fisher
Juni Fisher
Thursday Night at the Tijeras Corral Stage

Western Music Association 2006 Female Vocalist of the Year, AWA 2005 Female Western Performer of the Year, and WMA 2005 Crescendo Award winner Juni Fisher has been likened to movie director John Ford for her sweeping, epic story songs, to Stanley Kubrick for her stark, raw edged vignettes of the history of the American West, and to Folk Music icons Ian Tyson and Tom Russell for hard hitting, soulful lyrics. Her straightforward, on the mark vocals give voice to the soul of this remarkable songwriter.

Traditional folk music blends seamlessly with her songs of the American West, and many a listener has been moved by her unmistakably original music. Captivating performances, filled with essential marriage of crystalline guitar passages, and heart wrenching delivery are what Juni Fisher does best. It has been said that "Juni's music is part angelic, part devilish, and inspired from deep within her soul. Her voice is simply pure and beautiful, with no gimmicks. However, her best God-given talent is the ability to tell a poignant story that moves you down to your inner core.”

Syd Masters and the Swing Riders
Friday & Saturday at the Tijeras Corral Stage

Syd Masters perseveres in building a legacy that enhances our understanding of Western Americana. Combining classic favorites with colorful songwriting, his music paints a vivid landscape of the emotions and dreams that move within each of us. The quality of this singer?s melodies branch from his accomplished musicianship, adoration of the mountains and prairies he calls home, and an elevated warmth for those who dance, listen and smile along with his songs. He and his Swing Riders are a highly talented, thoroughly funny, good time cowboy band!

Syd's timeless melody "Under New Mexico Skies" was given the
honorable title of "Official Cowboy Song of the State of New Mexico".
The New Mexico Music Industry has presented him with awards for "Country Song of the Year," "Best Vocal Performance," and "Most
Humorous Song." His 2007 NMMI award for "Vocalist of the Year" made
him the only person to ever win it twice. Syd has been seen on television commercials and billboards throughout the west as spokesman for the Powerball Lottery Campaign.

On the national scene both The Western Music Association and The Academy of Western Artists have awarded or nominated Syd numerous times for Best Male Vocalist, Best Western Swing Band, Best Album, Song, Songwriter, and Entertainer. Alibi Music Magazine placed "Cowboys on the Moon" number eight on its Ten Best CD's to Buy list for that year.

Syd's rich lead vocals and humorous wit make for an unforgettable live performance. He prides himself in always presenting the appropriate show for each particular venue. Pulling from a seemingly endless repertoire of material, he'll keep folks dancing, laughing, and singing along!

Kip Calahan
Kip Calahan
Friday & Saturday at the Tijeras Corral Stage

People around the globe are delighted about Kip Calahan, a feisty and vivacious New Mexico singer/songwriter, who can be heard on radio stations in Germany, France, Belgium, Norway and the United States, and in live appearances in the United States and Japan.

Calahan cut (gnashed) her teeth on country music touring on the nightclub circuit. She landed in Nashville where she spent six years playing the downtown clubs and showcases. A vacation took her back home to southwest New Mexico where she met the cowboy of her dreams. When she married him and took up residence on a ranch where he is foreman, she traded her dream of becoming a "modern country" singer for a childhood dream of being a rancher's wife in the wide open spaces of the west, but she didn't give up music. Calahan followed her heart to Western Music, where her choice of songs from traditional cowboy ballads to upbeat contemporary sounds, reflects as much range as her vocal abilities.

Kip Calahan released her second western album, Dust Devil Angel, in 2004. One reviewer described it as "sassy, sultry, spunky, sexy, and smooth." Dust Devil Angel was named Western Album of the Year by the Western Music Association. Kip's song, "What Cowboy Means," from her debut album, Cowboys, Cowgirls, Roundups, and Rodeos was honored as Traditional Western Song of the Year.

He’s a frequent guest at cowboy gatherings and music festivals across the country, and is a returning feature at prestigious events like the Walnut Valley Festival and the Colorado Cowboy Poetry Gathering at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. You might also recognize him as the television spokesperson for Encore’s ‘Westerns’ Channel.

Devon Dawson
Thursday - Sunday at the Tijeras Corral Stage

DEVON DAWSON

A founding member of the award winning cowboy swing group, “The Texas Trailhands”, Miss Devon’s vocals and lively guitar strumming brings to mind ‘swing time cowgirls’ like Patsy Montana, Rosalie Allen, and Dale Evans. She is also known as the singin’, yodelin’, voice of “Jessie the Yodelin’ Cowgirl”, of Toy Story 2 fame, as heard on the Grammy–winning CD, Woody’s Roundup featuring Riders in the Sky, released by Walt Disney Records. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Devon makes personal appearances as “Jessie” from Radio Disney, Imagination Celebration, National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, and occasionally joins Riders In the Sky onstage, as she did in March 2001, when she appeared on the Grand Old Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kip Calahan
T.J. Casey & The Rough Riders
Saturday Night in the Big Tent

The soul of T. J. Casey was shaped in him by the precepts of his mama and daddy, by his childhood in Montana's beautiful but harsh and remote Pryor Mountains, and by close association with horses and cattle before he can even remember. Living primitively (by today's standards), with no electricity, telephone or indoor plumbing taught him just how unimportant money and possessions really are in life. Mentored by old cowboys and old horses, T.J. learned honesty, humor, respect, trustworthiness, and strength of character. Wild cattle and younger horses taught him mental and physical brawn and agility, and developed in him a good measure of toughness and tenacity. Interwoven with these forces was the powerful oral history of the cowboy, which T. J. was steeped in through poems, stories and songs, passed down from those who'd gone before. That culture became woof and warp of his soul, so that the songs and poems spawned there today bear witness of and are true to his cowboy heritage.

Spending two thirds of his life so far in a saddle, working with cattle and horses on ranches across the West, gives T. J. Casey and his words and music an authenticity impossible to manufacture . . . they are truly "of the land. " Being onstage as an entertainer nationwide across the last three decades gives T. J. Casey and his words, music, and presentation a polish and presence impossible to manufacture . . . they are truly "for the audience." When this larger-than-life artist steps under the spotlight, looks you in the eye, strums the strings on his guitar and opens his mouth to sing, the cowboy from his soul communicates with you . . . you live the song, the poem, the story. You smell trail dust and campfire smoke, feel sweat and grit on your brow, taste the blessed refreshment of clear spring water after a long, hot day of work….

Sons of the Rio Grande
Friday & Saturday at the Tijeras Stage

The Sons of the Rio Grande formed as a trio in 1996 from veterans of the active Western Music scene in the Rio Grande Valley of Central New Mexico. They shared a desire to build a strong acoustic band with a lean, vocal oriented sound. The result is a stirring combination of tight trio harmony and lively instrumental work that evokes the original Sons of the Pioneers, but builds on that excellent tradition with material spanning a century of Western Music, including several of the group's original compositions. The title track of their debut album, The Spirit & Beauty of the West, won them the New Mexico Industry Award for Best Folk Song of 2003.

Earl Gleason
Earl Gleason
Wednesday & Thursday at the Tijeras Corral Stage

Earl Gleason grew up on a farm along the middle Rio Grande valley of central New Mexico. At an early age Earl knew he wanted to play a guitar and sing. When he was about 8 years old he asked his Dad for a guitar. This was during WWII, and his father knew it would be hard to find a guitar that he could afford. Mr. Gleason came home one day with a used big box Stella guitar, and there began the story.

Earl has been an active member of the Western Music Association and the Association of Western Artists for many years. He especially enjoys singing the old cowboy songs around the fires at the Chuck Wagon camps. Earl has been writing, singing songs and talking to people everywhere to encourage interest in preserving the historic sites and songs of the cowboy days in the old west. In 2006 the song “Springerville” that Earl wrote and recorded on his CD “The Drovers” was in the top ten nominations for Western Music Association National Song of the Year. Another song he recorded on that CD, written by Jerry Campbell and Bob Wagoner was in the top five. Earl also tied for first place as Male Yodeler of the Year at the National Western Music Association Show.

Buffalo Express with TC Thorstenson
Saturday at 2:00 PM & Sunday at 1:00 PM
Mission Corral

TC Thorstenson is the President and founder of Buffalo Express. He is the world's foremost trainer of performance buffalo and, perhaps the only available expert on the obscure subject. This unusual and extraordinary talent has taken him across the Untied States, Canada, and Mexico numerous times, entertaining audiences with his buffalo prodigy, "Harvey Wallbanger, JR."

Collin "TC" Thorstenson was raised in South Dakota's Standing Rock Souix Indian Reservation, just south of Ft. Yates, North Dakota. Fascinated with animals and surrounded with everything from sheep to cattle, and horses to buffalo, it wasn't long before TC began to develop his early animal training techniques. His goal was to successfully train bison, considered the "un-trainable" animal. Initially his attempts to train these stubborn animals was an exercise in futility. His failure was characterized by the fact that he tried to train the calves the same way young horses were commonly trained. It didn't take TC long to realized this approach was not working.

It was in 1978, poachers attacked his small herd, leaving a three day old bull buffalo calf orphaned. Thorstenson bottle fed the calf to keep it alive. The unforeseen result was that the calf became imprinted on TC and soon the calf followed him around as if he, himself, was the calf's mother.

Today, with movies, commercials, sporting events, special events, rodeos, and a multitude of other appearances and performances to their credit, TC and Harvey Wallbanger continue to showcase the great American Bison. What began as an adventure for a small boy in South Dakota, has turned into a life long adventure for a man and his dream. A dream that started with trying to train an "un-trainable" animal became a life's goal to showcase to the world just how magnificent this icon of American history, the bison, remains. TC once said, "Bison have made me successful, now it's my turn to make the Bison famous". After several decades of hard work this statement has proven correct. Please join Buffalo Express, as the adventure continues.

Bob Munden, The Fastest Gun That Ever Lived!
Saturday & Sunday at the Bahia De Coto Stage

The fastest man with a gun who ever lived is coming to town. Bob Munden, who has held all 18 world records in speed shooting since 1960, has astounded audiences world wide with his amazing fast-draw abilities. While 1950’s TV-western stars like Marshal Dillon of “Gunsmoke” slapped leather at eight tenths of a second, Munden’s fastest time, officially recorded in New York by Guinness Book of World Records representatives, is a one and three-quarters one hundredths of one second — which is less than one half of one half of one tenth of one second.

Munden, who stresses gun safety in the shows as well as telling tales about the myths of the Old West, says it is hard for people to understand something that happens so quickly. Through the years Munden has refused to use anything but the real thing. His Colt .45 single actions weigh just over two and a quarter pounds and his holsters “do not move, swivel, or open up in any manner.”

Jim Dunham is a world famous "quick gun artist" and an authority on the Old West. He is an extraordinary gunfighter and fast-draw artist who will take you back to the raucous, unpredictable days of Dodge City, the O.K. Corral, frontier towns and cattle drives, and the people who made them famous.

A talented and prolific entertainer, Jim Dunham studied art, theatre, and western history at the University of Colorado in Boulder, producing and presenting lectures and demonstrations about the old western gunfighters while still an undergraduate.
