Making Mounted Shooting History at END of TRAIL 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Making Mounted Shooting History

END of TRAIL 2012 will feature the first cooperative event produced at any major Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) event by the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association (CMSA). Board level discussions have been ongoing, seeking ways to maximize the effectiveness of both organizations by buiilding upon what each does best: Cowboy Action and Cowboy Mounted Shooting. SASS has been the undisputed leader in Cowboy Action Shooting since the Wild Bunch created this exciting, colorful, and historic sport some 30 years ago. The same is true of the CMSA, the founding organization for Cowboy Mounted Shooting. END of TRAIL 2012 will be a historic and exciting event pitting the very best Cowboy Mounted Shooters from across America and beyond in an epic shoot-out that will feature colorful cowboys and cowgirls in mounted revolver, rifle, and shotgun competitions. For the first time in the history of Mounted Shooting, END of TRAIL contestants will receive CMSA World Qualifying Points (6X), 50% payback of the entry fee, the OPTION of running for even larger prizes WHILE RUNNING FOR THE SASS WORLD TITLE!

CMSA's goal is, "to give more back to the Mounted Shooting member," and this new cooperative production will do just that! By offering more choices than ever, the SASS and CMSA board members are looking forward to expanded cooperation in the future. The basic concept is simple; to compete at any CMSA World Point Qualifying event you simply need to be a member of CMSA (most SASS Mounted Shooters are already members of both organizations). To win the SASS World Title, you must be a member of SASS- and you must dress in accordance with SASS period dress rules. All other rules and stages will be that of CMSA.

Keeping the Old West alive is important to Cowboy Action and Cowboy Mounted Shooters alike. In an age where smart phones have replaced telegraph lines, living the "Cowboy Way" is all too often replaced with "if it feels good, do it." All who believe in the western lifestyle should band together to promote what is good, right, and just. SASS and CMSA are hoping to form a strategic alliance that will benefit the members of both organizations by leveraging the skills, resources, and talents each group possesses to enhance the experience of members and spectators alike.

Ever dream of becoming a Cowboy Mounted Shooter? Now is your opportunity to saddle up and find out what all the excitement is about, while learning from the very best of the best. Kicking off the END of TRAIL Cowboy Mounted Shooting will be another historic first for END of TRAIL with clinics provided at no charge by CMSA founder and Chairman of the Board, Jim Rodgers. This 69-year old multiple SASS and CMSA World and National Champion cowboy will share vital insight he uses to keep him competitive with today's young stars. Jim's unique perspective as one of the original WIld Bunch, the creator of Cowboy Mounted Shooting, and a lifelong competitive shooter have repeatedly shown to improve the performance of new Mounted Shooters and champions alike. Joining Jim will be Outlaw Annie, Annie Bianco, herself a multiple END of TRAIL champion and sought-after Mounted Shooting clinician, whose roster of students reads like a who's who of Cowboy Mounted Shooting. Do not miss the kick-off event, which will be followed by a three-stage Warm-Up shoot that will allow clinic participants to apply their newly learned skills...and the best part is, it's open to all!

Friday will dawn with sweaty palms and stomach knots when Stages 1 and 2 kick off the SASS Mounted Shooting World Finals and CMSA END of TRAIL Championship at 9:00 AM. From hard-riding, non-shooting Wrangler (under 12 years old) competitors to past and future World Champions- all will run their first two stages hoping to put themselves in contention. Following the first two revolver stages will be Stage 1 of shotgun and rifle. These thrilling events, reminiscent of Rooster Cogburn's famous ride in True Grit, are a sure way to get your heart pumping when you see mounted contestants drop their reins and spur forward while shooting their long gun!

Saturday will be the day of decisions, protect a lead, go for broke to make up time, or run smooth and clean. You'll see those strategies and many others come into play as Cowboy Mounted Shooters vie for the titles of SASS World Champion, CMSA END of TRAIL Champion, Class Winners, Rifle and Shotgun, while also riding for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. Each Class Winner will receive a customized trophy championship buckle from Montana Silversmiths with their name engraved to commemorate their accomplishment.

After the smoke and dust have settled at about 5:00pm on Saturday, and once the scores have been tabulated, the Starline Showcase of Champions will invite the Top Ten Divisional qualifiers to run for BONUS CASH AND PRIZES! In addition, the Top Ten Rifle and Shotgun finalists will go head to head against the very best long gun shooters.

You won't want to miss this adrenalin pumping event that will crown a SASS World Champion and the first ever CMSA END of TRAIL Cowboy Mounted Shooting Champion!
