Wild Bunching at the Texican Rangers
« on: April 30, 2014, 05:56:02 PM »
There will be a WB Match on Saturday, May 31st at the Texican Rangers near Comfort Texas.  This is a 5th Saturday.  Five stages.  Easy scenarios, mostly Shooter's Choice.

Round Count 175 Pistol, five magazines, seven rounds each; 35 Rifle; 30 Shotgun.

If you like shooting the 1911 a bunch, this is a match to make!

Open category for those who don't exactly comply with SASS WB rules on caliber, base pads, etc.

We're having some weather (20% rain), so watch the website <www.texicanrangers.org> for last minute updates.

Grouchy, I'm not a fan of 7 in the magazine since the official rules require 5 and since you are shooting on CAS targets 5 would probably work better. Shooting the rifle targets with the 1911 is normal practice at matches. Have FUN !!!

Thanks for the input Happy Jack!  Fun is the name of the game.

The planning is in early stages.  We have a couple of stages already set up where 7 round sequences can easily work with no memory challenges.  Other than counting to seven on both rifle and pistol.   No mixed 5 and 7 round scenarios for sure.  And sequences will be the same for rifle, pistol on rifle, and pistol on pistol.

I'm not in favor of different sequences for rifle and pistol.  My memory ain't that good.

Grouch, you say the rifle targets are not long range? Well, we already have a game that plays that way and it is called CAS. WBers pride themselves on not being "CAS with a 1911" so I will submit to you and all here assembled that our WB rifle targets be set a mite furthur out than we do for CAS.

After all, the purpose of the rifle is the projection of power over a distance.

Lone Dog, good to hear from you!

Yep, the rifle targets are set back another few yards.  Come shoot with us, now that you're moved from the wilderness of the panhandle!

I am on hiatus from shooting. It will take me several months to complete the move.

Wow, HIATUS, that is a big word for this crowd!  Reigniting the old flame must be a bigger process than I imagined.  Strike that thought, I don't want to imagine anything here.  Leaving for Cleburne tomorrow, sorry you won't be there.  I had fun with you last year.

Yes it pains me dearly to miss the TX State WB match for the first time. Next year for sure.

Yes moving is not easy. It is going to take several months to get my affairs in order. And the actual physical move will require as many as dozens of trips in the Tacoma. But I have the rest of my life to accomplish that.

Long gone are the days when I could toss the ruck and duffle in the tank and roar off...
