Hey guys, thanks ever so much for the info, just one more thing,...where does one acquire lead bullets for these?
All the bullet makers I know only seem to make for our cowboy stuff :)

Looking forward to getting it set up and see you at WR next year.

Here's a few places that do rifle bullet casting:

http://www.montanabulletworks.com/7mm_Rifle.html

http://www.gardnerscache.com/7mm_145_lfp_sil_g_c.html   They have date windows on which you can order - next one is Saturday Aug 29th!

I haven't any experience with any of these folks' bullets, so you are on your own.

For BAM shooting, you may want a fairly hard bullet, so you can get to about 1600-1800 FPS.   Look for either 16 Brinell hardness, or "quench hardened" lead alloy or linotype alloy for starters.  Most of the time, a gas checked bullet will be what you want, as well, for better accuracy.    And heavier bullets with a spire tip often feed through military bolt guns better than flat nosed slugs.

Good luck, GJ

Jackeroo, Dusty Boddams put me on to Norm Purcella in NM.  I don't know what he offers in 7mm.  Service is prompt, bullets are OK.

Call or write: [email protected] or phone at 575-625-2825

In the 7.5x55 Swiss for a K31 carbine, I use 15 gr Trail Boss with a 168 gr GC at 1500 fps.  I tried TB in the  30-06 but it didn't shoot as tight a group as did IMR 4064 (32.0 - 32.5) pushing the same bullet about 1600 fps.

Trail Boss makes the K31 spit like a mad cat, no recoil, no muzzle jump.

Run - Hide - Call?  Forget it !  Draw - Aim - Shoot

Thanks GJ & GS, been reading your TB for Bam rifles, and certainly given me a place to start.
I have got plenty TB so I'll give that a whirl first.
