It is not clear to me on the rule change considering model 12's.
I understand not having to show the TO that the 12 is not cocked.
What if any is the penalty if the sg is cocked when the shooter tries to cycle it?
Your post indicates the SDQ is no longer in effect.
Thanks

Why keep the definition for tactical reload if the rule is now gone?

Because something you CAN do sometimes needs a definition as well as something you can't.

Didn't see any penalty for a staged Pistol empty but the slide forward. ( It was in the previous SHB )
Is this a new rule or ..... did I miss something ?

Thanks for your clarification

Frenchie - Here are the changes as listed by Happy Jack in another post.

The new 2018 WBAS handbooks are posted on this site and the SASS Homepage. PLEASE download them and note the MANY rule changes.
A short list of changes are as follows:  It is not complete but covers the most important ones.
#1. The rule about "all reloads must be from slidelock" has been ELIMINATED.  This allows tactical reloads or if a slidelock fails one may reload without locking it open first.
#2. Movement with the slide forward has been changed from a SDQ to a MSV IF the chamber is empty. It is still a SDQ if the slide is forward on a live round.
#3. Removed the MSV for loading a single round by placing it in the chamber and then lowering the slide.
#4. Removed the MSV for a "tactical reload".
#5. Removed the MSV for restaging the pistol with the slide forward IF it is empty of live rounds.
#6. Removed the SDQ for rerstaging the 1911 with a loaded magazine inserted.
#7. ELIMINATED the pre-stage safety check for the Model 12 shotgun. TO's must still be aware that IF the action doesn't open when tried they MUST stop the shooter immediately and determine if the hammer is cocked. This removes a SDQ penalty.
#8. Removed the SDQ for dry firing at the loading table.
#9.  ALL 1911 engagements are to be with 7 rounds in the magazine. There are NO MORE 5 round sequences.

These changes are intended to make the sport more shooter friendly and eliminates some rules that were put in place initially to assist shooters who were not familiar with the 1911 from making mistakes.

Thanks a LOT Sassy,

That is really a very nice summary.
I have downloaded all the books and will go through them again.

There are quite a lot of changes, and it will take a little time to get used to it.

But they are positive changes, and will make the sport more fluent and fun.
