Advice needed - Finding the right ammo

First thing I would do is start with the rifles. Really scrub the bores until a clean patch comes out. Next I definitely would glass bed them both. I also would float the barrel. Then I would start shooting. I really can't or won't recommend types of ammo as I reload (have for 60 years). My experience has been that every rifle likes a different kind/brand of ammo, you just have to find it. When I reload I stick to the same bullet and vary the powder type & charge until I find what shoots best.

runner mauled by mountain lion choked animal to death

Young mt lions are pretty stupid, especially when hungry. There momma kicks them out about now, just before she gives birth to another litter. They still don't know how to hunt very well and really do stupid things. I used to own an apple orchard that always had lots of deer in it. One day (in the spring), I saw a yearling doe with her guts hanging out. Called the game warden and he put her down. He was the one who told me about young loins. He said a lion had attacked the deer, but it got away as the lion couldn't seal the deal and went away hungry.

    TSA Compliant Drivers License

What I stated came off the TSA web site and it listed military ID as acceptable.

    TSA Compliant Drivers License

They do accept a Passport and current Military ID. I checked out their website and there are a lot of other IDs they accept. They also listed the states that are not in compliance. Colorado (my state) was not listed, so I assume that we are compliant. I take that to mean I don't need a BC when I renew later this year.

Will they accept a Passport? Had to have a birth cert to get it.

    8mm Mauser vs 30-06

First.....there is no way it was a Mauser M98, their bolt cocked on opening (like the 03/03A3 Springfields). Bolt cocking on closing is classic 1917 Enfield, along with the big steel ears on the back of the receiver that protected the rear sight. These (along with the military sight) were probably removed so a scope base could be attached there. I am not aware of any M17 being chambered for 8mm, there were some .303 that were made and sold to the British. I agree with grenadier, but with out seeing the gun, would be difficult to tell what's going on with it. Sounds like the pawn shop doesn't know squat about guns!

    ruger verses S & W

I have a S & W Model 638 .38 Spec (rated o shoot +P ammo). I bought it new last year at our local gun show. I paid $400.00 new in the factory box. I put it in my pocket and also have a pocket holster. It shoots great, but the +P is a handful. When I carry it, it is loaded with +P's so if I have to use it, the +P has better stopping power. Couldn't ask for a better CC gun, especially for the $$$.

    Wood Stove VS Pellet Stove

The only place in Colorado that has air quality rules is around Denver .....and who would want to live there. LOL

    Wood Stove VS Pellet Stove

My free standing pellet stove holds 1 + bag (#40). When it is about 2/3's empty, I add another bag. If I burn it 24 hrs, depending on the auger setting, it usually will burn about 1/2 of the hopper. Over the 20 years using it, I've found a big difference in pellet quality. Some put out less heat, so I don't buy them. Just have to try them and find out what pellets burn best. Overall I would not go back to wood, even if I got it for free! (I corrected my statement..left a word out!)
