Don't sell the 1866 Short ,,,, It can be Short Stroked just like a 73 ,, Lighter Lifters ,,, Springs ,,,, Etc .... And I find it just feels and fits me better than the 73 .... My favorite 66 Is a Uberti Sporting Rifle in .38-40 ... Next is My Uberti 66 Short Rifle in .45 Colt .... And there is nothing wrong with my 92 .... The Front trigger is the One to pull to fire the gun !!! The front trigger will fire the gun with-out being "SET " or with a lighter weight of pull fire the gun when set .... The rear trigger Should Not under any condition cause the gun to fire ....... Your Explaination was Such that it confused me, and I have been a Smith for 45 + years ... I have shot my Shotguns with barrels between 28 -30 inches for the past 2 decades in this game ,,,, I have been trying out a 18.5 inch Hammered Double this past season and I really wish it had longer barrels ... I think 24 inches would be perfect ..... As for rifles I am evenly split on barrel length between 20 inch guns and 24 inch guns ,,, But my favorite is a 66 Uberti Sporting Rifle in .38 WCF. ( 24.5 ) My Favourite Revolvers are "Open-Tops" in .44 spl./ .44 Rus. with Navy grips and 7 1/2 inch barrels ... I also have barrel lengths as short as 4 5/8 inches .... Welcome to the Fire ....
