SASS HQ - Snow and Ice Closure in effect

Wild Shot has heroically made it to the ranch to feed the cattle and break up their water tank throughout this nightmare... he is a warrior! They fare well- they move up into the trees and hunker down for the most part.

SASS HQ - Snow and Ice Closure in effect

Happy 2019! Unfortunately, SASS HQ will remain closed until Monday, January 7th. We are simply unable to reach the office to open. Edgewood has received 39” of snow in total, and Cowboy Way has still not been plowed. The road crews have been overwhelmed trying to get/keep the main roads clear and our road (single business, dead end) is simply not a priority... understandably so. Moreover, yesterday’s sunshine on top of the efforts of road crews after a -5 degree overnight- has turned the region into a huge ice rink. I dug my way out yesterday to check on Cowboy Way and was unable to get to it directly thanks to a plow that left a veritable wall of snow right at our road... so I hopped on the interstate to check it out from the highway... as you can see- it hasn’t been touched! The safety of our staff is paramount; we thank you for your patience and understanding! Founders Ranch, too- is in a state of frozen lock down. Our crews have finally made it back to the property today to attempt to begin the monumental task of digging out. Tractors, trucks, chains, and plows have proven only to also land in ditches so far! Word on the street is that these back to back storms are borderline historic- with many saying they haven’t seen snow like this here in over 20 years. Personally.... this summer girl has a raging case of cabin fever! I’ve included some pictures I’ve taken over the last few days. Stay safe, Misty Moonshine

    20 year membership pin

It will not be a one time thing. It’s just a new program we just launched. Over time, all members will receive their appropriate landmark pin- and when they hit each 5 year landmark, the next pin will be on its way! Misty

SASS Certified RO Instructors 2019-2020 Listed by Region!

All prior RO Instructor certifications expire Dec. 31, 2018... in about 10 days. This listing is the Certified instructors for the next 2 year term- Jan 1, 2019 through Dec. 31, 2020. I wanted this list on the website for Jan 1- with the holidays upcoming I went ahead and got it built and published so that I could enjoy the holidays with my family without this task looming over my head! 20 year membership pin

Hey everyone- I didn't forget about the announcement/distribution info- all of the information on the pin distribution and its announcement will be included in the January 1 SASS Member Bulletin, as was always planned. Keep an eye on your email on January 1! Thanks! Misty

    20 year membership pin

Hi Chili Ron, No- each member will get only the one landmark pin that they are currently on. We hadn't considered additional pins as an option... our goal was to get only the one pin to each member who had reached the landmark for membership. I'm certainly not opposed to offering the pins for folks to buy additional of as well (if their membership qualifies!)... I'll look into this as a possibility in the coming months. Thanks for the suggestion! Misty

    20 year membership pin

Why do you think this wasn’t well thought out, Allie Mo? The loyalty of a life membership is not in question- nor has it ever been. SASS is greatly appreciative of ALL our members. We felt like it was high time to recognize landmark years of membership loyalty to SASS- for ALL our members; not just those wearing a gold badge. Misty

    20 year membership pin

Wow! What a response.... Yes, this is new.... and (we thought) awesome!? Beginning with the January 2019 renewal dates for annual members, those who have hit a 5-10-15-20-25-30 year landmark will be receiving the landmark pin. We thought it was a great way to recognize our annual members and give them a little something to know we appreciate them. Sending out the pins to every member all at once would be extremely cost prohibitive- so we will be doing so each month as those memberships come up for renewal. I will post an annnouncement with all the details tomorrow as to when everyone can expect their pin... right now I’m enjoying my Sunday afternoon with my new grandson. Misty

    End of Trail

Hi John Wesley Hardin, I am thrilled that you are considering making your way to END of TRAIL! Registration for EOT will open January 1, 2019. There is an early registration discount if you register before April 1. EOT has the ability to host close to 1200 shooters, so- we simply don't "sell out". I have been working on the 'bones' of the EOT schedule and I posted it on the website a couple of days ago. Click here for a link to the EOT Schedule In summary: Monday/Tuesday June 17-18: Cowboy Warm Up match days Wednesday June 19: Side Match Day Thursday/Friday/Saturday, June 20-21-22: Cowboy Main Match Sunday, June 23: Top Gun shoot off and Awards ceremony As far as camping goes, EOT does offer dry camping on Founders Ranch for $50 for the entire event. We also arrange water and dumping service directly to your RV for an additional charge on an as needed/scheduled basis. If you're not a fan of dry camping, there are several RV parks with full hook-ups pretty close to Founders Ranch. Again- there are great resources for lodging located on the SASS Website! Here is a direct link to the lodging page: Click here for a direct link to the EOT lodging page As far as entertainment, there are a multitude of activities in the area. Ok, ok... maybe not so much in Edgewood/East Mountains area itself, but in about an hours' drive, you can visit some truly amazing sights. To list a few: Santa Fe Plaza Sandia Crest Tramway Kasha Katuwe tent rocks Shopping & dining Casinos Albuquerque Old Town ABQ Zoo & Biopark If you'd like to explore a little more of what New Mexico has to offer, you can visit: https://www.newmexico.org/ I hope this helps- if there's anything we can do here at SASS HQ to help make your trip to END of TRAIL and to the beautiful state of New Mexico a great one- just let us know! I look forward to seeing you at END of TRAIL! Misty Moonshine
