  1. EOT 2018 - Lodging Alert

Good morning! A note regarding lodging at EOT 2018: 1- The new Comfort Inn in Edgewood is open! We are negotiating a group rate that will be deeply discounted with the hotel for EOT attendees. If you've already made your reservation, no worries- you can get the group rate in person upon check-in, or call the hotel directly at: 505-281-6570. If you use a 3rd party to book your room there (Expedia, etc.), you will NOT get the best rate/the group rate. Once the booking is done through a 3rd party, there is little the hotel can do to discount your stay. For best results, and the BEST rate, please call the hotel directly to make your reservation. 2- RV Renters BEWARE! Please be warned that if you are considering renting an RV from American Dream Vacations (Albuquerque branch), I'd strongly suggest you reconsider. I've personally had nothing but issues with them (2 years in a row), and have heard nothing but horror stories form other members as well. Upon contacting the Attorney General and BBB regarding them, I found out they currently have 4 active lawsuits against them and an F rating with the BBB. The rental costs are high, the customer service is deplorable... and if you're like myself and another SASS member who contacted me, you'll receive up to a $4K bill for questionable "repairs for damage" after the event. Just want to get the word out. Looking forward to seeing you all at END of TRAIL! Misty Moonshine
  2. Life Membership Upgrade Quarterly Payment Plan - Promotion

Hi guys! PLEASE- if you have a direct question, please email me directly at [email protected] so that I can answer you in a timely manner! I'm so sorry I didn't see this; I haven't had a lot of time to peruse the Wire Forum lately. To answer your question- when we receive your initial payment for the Life Quarterly plan, your date will be automatically extended one year. Once the final payment is received, your membership will then be turned to LIFE and your Life membership materials will be ordered. So... nope- no need to worry about your annual dues ever again once you send in your first payment and commit to the Quarterly payment plan! Misty
  3. Why our memberships are inactive

Yes sir- any SASS member can change their alias at anytime. It's a pretty easy change, just get in touch with as at HQ and we'll be happy to help with checking the availability and get it changed for him. There have been numerous youngsters that felt they "outgrew" their aliases and changed them when they got a bit older. No problem there! What your doing for the $5/year at the point when they are tee-teeny (that's an official word for too small to shoot yet) is securing their SASS badge number, their alias, and supporting the organization that is working to make sure the sport is still around so that he can shoot when he's all grown up, with his son. Hope this helps- as always, if I can help further, don't hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] Misty
  4. Handbook UPDATE***

Here is a summary of the changes from Version 22.2 to Version 22.3 so that you can find them easily for review: SASS Shooters Handbook Version 22.3 (Changes made from 22.2) 1. Cover Page – Version number changed and date changed 2. Page 10 – “OPEN CATEGORIES” were redefined as “Open Age Categories” to eliminate confusion surrounding the definition of the term “Open”. 3. Page 5 – Reference to “Double Duelist” as a Style was removed. Further clarification regarding Double Duelist is provided in the text below. This eliminates any misunderstanding that “Double Duelist” is a separate shooting category from Duelist. 4. Page 10 – Further clarification regarding the Category mandates. Additional text added to ensure the understanding that “Categories offered at any match are ultimately at the discretion of the Match Officials to ensure the success and viability of each match individually.” Changed one word from “WILL” to “MAY” to further clarify. 5. Page 16 – Corrected a typo of the word “ANGELS” to “ANGLES” 6. Page 22 – Reformatted the list of MDQ penalties to better qualify- separating out two accumulated SDQ and adding additional clarification. 7. Page 28 – The first statement “- All firearms will remain unloaded except while….” Was edited to match the statement on page 16 for consistency. 8. Page 34 – Under stocks and Grips: the last bullet re: Leather on a pump shotgun’s fore end…entry was edited/clarified to include rifles. 9. Page 35 – Corrected a typo of the word/name “BEECH” to “BEACH” 10. Page 36- Under Frames & Receivers: an addition was made: “A set-screw may be installed on the frame of Colt Walker & Dragoon reproductions to keep the loading lever from dropping and tying up the action.” 11. Glossary Additions: 3 terms were added to the Glossary in support of the RO I Course materials: Gun Stoppage, Malfunction, and Convention. Hope this helps! Misty
  5. Why our memberships are inactive

You're correct. Kids memberships up to age 18 are only $5/year. Misty
  6. Why our memberships are inactive

HOLD Memberships are for established SASS Memberships only.
  7. Why our memberships are inactive

Hi Papa Pat, First of all, thank you for your membership in SASS, your support, and for your post here. SASS does offer what is called a "HOLD" membership. For $10, it will lock in your alias and keep the membership safe for the year. We began offering this option about 3 years ago- for situations just like yours. Please call the SASS Office at 505-843-1320- tell them Misty sent ya- and that you'd like to put your family's memberships on "HOLD". We look forward to helping out. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly with any further questions or concerns at: [email protected] My Best, Misty Moonshine

  9. Misty,

I know a new RO II course is on its way, and thank you for the new RO I course.  Where can I find the old RO II materials now?  I can’t find them on the wire, so I must be looking in the wrong place.

  11. NEW SASS Shooters Handbook! ***UPDATE***

It is "official" now- as of its posting date. There are no rule changes - rather, a significant format change and the integration of information previously found in the RO Course documents. Misty

Misty Moonshine Dear SASS Members, I am proud to announce that there is a NEW SASS/Cowboy Action Shooting Shooters Handbook Version available! For some time, there has been a need expressed from our membership to condense all of the rules and guidelines into one, centralized resource book. Shooters no longer have to go into the RO 1 Course materials to receive critical information and guidelines. Huge Thanks go out to the RO Committee for their hard work and diligent assistance in reviewing and fine-tuning the new format of the Shooters Handbook. Their insight and guidance has ensured that this publication is a world class resource and a reflection of the growing and evolving needs of our shooters. The new Version of the SASS Shooters Handbook is now available for download on the SASS Website, under Handbooks & Rules. Here is a direct link to the Shooters Handbook page: CLICK HERE. Happy Shooting, Misty Moonshine

  14. Q&A on New Forum Software

There are no "techs" to hold out hope to see this and answer or fix. We don't have tech's.... our hosting service doesn't monitor our wire forums. All they do is maintain the software and keep it safe; installing upgrades, etc. The only way to get changes made is through SASS HQ- we communicate to the hosting service and do what we can to facilitate the request. I will have to contact them and ask them about Post #'s. If we can add them back, we will- but please understand that they are not software developers. Will do the best we can. As Allie mentioned on another post... I cant read every thread or post either... if there is something like this that comes up - don't just "hope" I happen to see it. Please reach out to me directly at [email protected] Misty Moonshine
