Help with ship identification

Recommended Posts

Part of an add for Duluth Trading Co. Very interesting design, but did this ship actually exist?

Dave:

My research indicates that the Whaleback Cargo Cruiser was built by the Superior Shipbuilding Company.

So the ad is either about foundering, rivets coming apart or taking over a town of people just by walking up?

Thanks for the identification.  I figured a Great lakes ship but couldn't find a picture to match.

Reading up, Whaleback Vessels had an interesting history and in addition to be self propelled the design originally was done to create a better handling towed barge. (Consort)

I understand the design issues for carrying bulk cargo, but I wonder why they wern't more successful at carrying liquid cargo?
