What's on your Bucket List?

Recommended Posts

There have been many mentions of "bucket list" items on posts both on the SASS WIRE and SASS SALOON.

Below are just a few.

SO WHAT ARE  YOUR BUCKET LIST ITEMS (CAS and Non-CAS)?

Yea, that one is the biggest on my list. Two I have accomplished this past spring and fall. 1 was to go fishing with a professional and what a day that turned out to be. The 2nd was go flying one last time in a 2 seater Alaskan Husky airplane. Man was that fun. I can't wait for the June trip. Getting things lined up now.:D Another big thing would of course be E.O.T. That one maybe 2020.

Things I want to do before I can’t:

Take my wife to Europe.

Get my photo taken next to the big bronze bull on Wall Street. For no reason except it’s cool.

Visit the Empire State Building

Travel the USA with my wife in an RV and take my motorcycle(s)

Travel the USA by motorcycle.

Go to Australia.

Hang Glide

Drive a car faster than 150 mph...a bike too.

See outer space, or get as close as possible.

See all of the Smithsonian.

Live in the desert.

See the solar eclipse in Texas in 2024 with my family.

Buy a piano and learn to play boogie woogie music on it.

Hmmm... Bucket list... Well, since Mrs. Doc rides horses I have access to all kinds of buckets, some of them pretty big.

As far as SASS/CAS go:

-- Just be able to shoot a full season instead of one or two matches! Preferably without firearms related problems.

-- Meet some of the amazing people I've come to know online, shake their hands, share a drink perhaps, and shoot with them.

As for non CAS:

-- Earn my black belt in Kenpo. I'm currently working on that. Afterward, continue to stick with it as long as my body allows.

-- Get my private pilot ticket. I am growing to accept that is less likely to happen. I should've done it much earlier in life, and turned it into a career.

-- Go here: https://wwiiadt.org/the-parachute-school  This one I would need to do sooner, rather than later, as age is against me.

-- Visit Scotland and Ireland with my wife.

-- Visit the Galapagos with my wife (she's been there, dreams of returning, so it is a dream of mine too, for her sake) Can her bucket list item be one of mine by proxy?

-- Spend time just traveling the U.S. with no particular goal. No shooting match, no horse show, nobody to visit. Just travel and see.

Italy. My favorite country outside of the USA. Well, in my experience. Italy would definitely be the highlight of my trip if my wife and I ever go to Europe. She wants to see Germany again. She spent the first 6 years of her life there.

My favorite things in Italy were the food and sitting at sidewalk cafes in the afternoon and watching the pretty girls go by.

I pondered while reading. I would settle for moving out of CA. Unfortunately, Hubby keeps improving the property. Well, at least it keeps him occupied. While he's at it, I'd like an observation tower (with elevator, surveillance cameras, bathroom, and large room) that is about four stories or 48 feet high and has a room on top that is 16 x 16 with windows all around, except where the bathroom is. Also, a fence around our 10 acres, with a gate that accesses our neighbor as he drives through our property to get his mail and he and hubby visit back and forth a lot.

I'd love to tour castles in Germany. Closer to home, I'd love to see Hearst Castle.

I'd like to shoot Days of Truth in Europe. Closer to home, I'd like to shoot Comin' Atcha.

Of those things, Hearst Castle and Comin' Atcha might be realistic.

If you visit Kyiv, you must also see Perchersk Lavra and visit the caves, and the many fine cathedrals, at least St Sophia, St. Michaels.

The downside of visiting Kyiv and Russia is that you can't go from here to there without two plane rides.

Not possible in this area. I wouldn’t want to take up space anyway.

Never know, I didn't sign up either. Got a call from the VFW on a Sunday evening and had no idea what he was talking about. Turned out 2 of my buddies signed me up to go with them and somehow failed to tell me.
