Those Heavy G2 grips
« on: May 18, 2016, 12:22:09 PM »
This might help someone.  At WR several shooters were describing hollowing out their new G2 grips to get their pistol back below the weight limit.  Brownells sells an aluminum alloy mainspring housing (item #100801017) made by Fusion Arms.  I weighed my steel one on my powder scale and it was 751.1 gr.  The aluminum one weighed 240.1 gr. for a difference of 511.4 gr.  At 437.5 gr./oz. that is a little less than 1.17 oz. decrease in weight.  Of course no two parts will weigh exactly the same but this is one way to get a little over an ounce of weight off if you add those heavy G2 grips.

Along that line (sort of), I noted the other day that VZ is doing the Operator II in carbon fiber for a premium price.
