DB, you should have try Garrison Joes 45 ACP recipe of 4.4 gr of WST with that 230 gr bullet in your 1917.  ;D  It was stout in the M1911!  I cut the M1917 load back to 3.7 gr Trail Boss from 4.3 gr TB, much more civilized.

Hey Buckeye!

Good lookin' Smith 1917. Indiana Jones made that somewhat popular with gun guys (although modded with a 4"barrel) in Raiders. It recently gained a lot more interest as it was used by Brad Pitt's character in the excellent movie FURY.

Always a great gun for the collection!

I've always liked the S&W 1917.  Finally found one that I could afford and was in good condition.  Looking forward to shooting it.

I have kinda been on the search too. Seems like owning a true piece of history is always a winning combination.
